Hello all, Aimee blogging on behalf of Dan again. Last week I promised you that I would post a blog about 3 awesome places to take pictures in Rockingham County. I’m here right now to make good on that promise.
1. Shenandoah National Park
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Alright, alright, no lions and tigers, but you can spot a Black Bear if you’re lucky. The views from Skyline Drive, especially at sunrise and sunset are fabulous, but they’re equally fabulous any other time of the day. If you don’t have an annual pass, you will need to pay a small fee to access Skyline Drive.
2. Lake Shenandoah
I’ve been to Lake Shenandoah a few times, but when I went this past weekend with my husband our purpose was to go fishing, and boy oh boy was it fun. The fish ate like kings…for free, but we still had a great time together. The reflections of the lakefront buildings in the water are nothing short of stunning. After I had enough of fishing, I whipped out my camera for some iPhoneography.
3. Grand Caverns
I am a newly minted Grottoes resident, as long as you consider 6 months new, and I am completely enamored by Grand Caverns. The caves are beautiful (just check out the picture above), and they’re the second oldest show cavern in the world, which adds to their mystique. Another Grand Caverns attraction that I think is equally awesome to really old caves are dinosaurs. They line the walking trail on the Grand Caverns grounds. Be sure to check them out!
